Dr. Comella is originally from Rochester, NY, where she earned her undergraduate degree in neuroscience and public health from the University of Rochester. She then relocated to Maine to attend medical school at the University of New England, where she earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree. In addition to the core curriculum of traditional medical education, osteopathic doctors like Dr. Comella learn specialized, hands-on techniques to treat musculoskeletal imbalances that can affect localized symptoms and overall body health. During medical school, Dr. Comella also obtained certification in nutrition coaching through Precision Nutrition, further complementing her holistic approach to patient care. Following medical school, she completed a three-year residency in family medicine at Maine Medical Center, followed by a one-year fellowship in integrative medicine. She is also a graduate of the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Integrative Medicine Fellowship. As part of her fellowship, Dr. Comella trained in medical acupuncture and is certified in medical acupuncture. Dr. Comella is passionate about the foundational role that health plays in leading a fulfilling and meaningful life. As a primary care physician, she emphasizes prevention and the use of lifestyle factors like nutrition and exercise to address symptoms and prevent chronic disease. Her approach to patient care is holistic, considering not only physical health but also mental and emotional well-being. She has a special interest in women’s health, sports medicine, and lifestyle medicine. Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Comella is an avid fitness coach and participant.
